THE FIFTH OF 4 CORNERS

Hello everyone,

once we have initiated something, it cannot be stopped. This is how I feel with the “speechlessness of the heart” that has moved me for months. It is pointing to a perceived inner state that I have already pointed out several times and to this came another hint some time ago “out of the blue” through an article by (un)-logician Graham Priest in ZEIT magazine about the question:

Is there more than just true or false?

Well noticed: A rather unusual question and yet I wanted to know and my curiosity was rewarded by the (un)-expected statement of the Buddha. Here is an excerpt, to trigger your mental appetite for an own excursion to the fifth corner of the square …

The Buddha (Siddhārtha Gautama, circa 450 BC) answers the questions of an inquisitive named Vaccha.

The dialogue goes something like this:

Vaccha: We know that it is possible to attain enlightenment in this life (because you did), but what happens to enlightened persons after they die? Do they still exist?

Buddha: No, I am not saying that.

Vaccha: Well, then they don’t exist?

Buddha: No, I am not saying that.

Vaccha: So they exist and they don’t exist at the same time.

Buddha: No, I am not saying that.

Vaccha: Good. So they neither exist nor do they not exist.

Buddha: No, I am not saying that.

The Buddha is a little evasive. Scholars argue about why. In some of the sutras that transmit such dialogues, the Buddha then says: “Look, I’m telling you how you can improve your life, and you want to waste the time on metaphysics ?!”

SPIRIT I AM • STEVE GOLD

Enjoy ❤️ LOVE

Looking in the mirror, I’m asking
Am I the change I long to see?
You know the world is just a picture
Of what’s inside of you and me

[Chorus]

I live for the spirit I am
I live for the spirit I am
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am

I live for the spirit I am
I live for the spirit I am
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am

What I’m here for, I wonder
What am I in this world to do?
What I’m here for, is one thing
One thing I know is true

I live for the spirit I am
I live for the spirit (solo)
I live for the spirit I am
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am

The wonder of life
In the air, on the land and the sea
Is a precious gift to me
In a world that’s torn by war and strife
All we can do is claim love as our reality

I’ll tell you if you ask me
What am I in this world to do?

I live for the spirit I am
I live for the spirit I am
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am

I live for the spirit I am
I live for the spirit (solo)
I live for the spirit I am
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am

I live for the spirit I am
I live for the spirit (solo)
I live for the spirit I am
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am
I live for the spirit I am
I live for the spirit (solo)
I live for the spirit I am
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am

Oh oh, I am I am I am
Walking with the spirit
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am
Talking with the spirit
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am
Moving with the spirit
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am
Let’s mix it with spirit
Oh oh, I am, I am, I am
I am, I am, I am
Brothers, sisters loving one another
I am, I am, I am
Feeling with the spirit
I am, I am, I am
All around the world
I am, I am, I am
